Project ANT (Working Title)
An endeavour into 2D game creation

Project ANT is our first attempt at creating a video game.

  • We are implementing a 2D engine in Java, featuring:
    • gravity
    • collision detection
    • a rudimentary AI
    • inter-object messaging system
    • sprite based graphics
    • polygonal collision detection using vector projections
  • We are implementing an array of game creation tools to facilitate us in content creation
  • Our game will impliment a audio system with both music and sound
  • More to come!
Deadlines
  • September 1st - Complete refinement of grid and remaining engine classes. Begin developing editors for Pixie, character editor.
  • October 31st - Complete map editor (missed)
  • December 24th, 2006 - Complete a demo of our first game.
Schedule & Progress
  • April 2006 - Planning of Project ANT begun.
  • 06.June 2006 - Coding of Project ANT started.
  • 01.Aug.2006 - Completed Polygon Class & Collision testing.
  • 08.Aug.2006 - Completed Message Class & rough grid class.
  • 14.Aug.2006 - Completed Post Office Class & rough Finite State Machine. Grid now utilizes the messaging / post office.
  • 10.Oct.2006 - Completed Pixie Editor (Assembler)
  • 30.Nov.2006 - Completed Squawk Box, the sound & music player.
